ACTIVE GRANT UPDATES

CURRENT GRANTS AWARDED THROUGH THE STATE OF MINNESOTA & BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL RESOURCES

The following active grants provided funding through the Board of Water and Soil Resources, from the State of Minnesota Clean Water Fund, and were used to support: Watershed Based Implementation Funding for the Joint Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan 2 & 3, Mustinka River Rehabilitation, and Redpath Flood Impoundment.

Table Above: Anticipated Measureable Outcomes of Watershed Based Implementation Funding: Ag Practices that result in 11.6 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous and 16.3 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment, Non-Structural Management Practices that result in 70 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous and 715 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment, Retrofits that result in 70 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous and 370 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment, 2 wells sealed, and further support of the Lake Traverse Water Quality Improvement Project No. 1 and further development of the Restoration of Doran Creek.

Table Above: Anticipated Measureable Outcomes of Watershed Based Implementation Funding: Ag Practices/Storage Practices that result in 11.1 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous, 18.75 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment  and 13 ACRE-FEET of storage; Soil Health Management Practices that result in 98 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous, 1001 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment, and 98 ACRE-FEET of storage; Project Development to contact 60 landowners; Multipurpose Drainage Management Retrofit BMP Construction that results in 90 LBS/YR reduction in phosphorous, 2700 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment; development of a Fivemile Creek feasibility Study.

Table Above: Anticipated Measurable Outcomes of Project Grant: 2250 TONS/YR reduction in total suspended sediment, 35.37 ACRES in permanent easement, 565 LBS/YR reduction in total phosphorous.

Table Above: This project will decrease the frequency and magnitude of breakout flows while also providing flood reduction for downstream areas along the Mustinka River. The effort will create 19,000 acre-feet of gated storage through an impoundment area with a footprint of approximately three-square miles. More specifically, this project will produce 7,124 acre-feet of gated storage for the 10-year/24-hour event and 18,127 acre-feet of gated storage for the 100-year/24-hour event.
